He stated that the MoD is “investigating” cars from China within its vehicle pools, however emphasised that security is a issue in every contemporary vehicles.

Our department has a collection of tens of thousands of vehicles in the MoD and those vehicles account for a tiny fraction.
But regardless of if you’re traveling in a vehicle from China or a non-Chinese car, our instruction to our people is not to plug Ministry of Defence technology into their vehicle, not to have discussions at a classified classification in any kind of car, due to the growing risks of surveillance that exist in all automobile, to only have those confidential talks in secure locations. This is a wise and reasonable thing for everyone worried about safety.

When it was suggested that it would be wise for the MoD to cease using all cars from China, Pollard responded: That is precisely what we are looking into at the moment.”

This revelation follows claims from Norway and Denmark have alerted the United Kingdom to the presence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese-made buses, which could enable the Chinese government to disable buses and bring disruption to public transit.
